Spotlight on Available Dogs

We think greyhounds are just about the perfect companion. Sweet, gentle, soulful, sometimes playful, sometimes cuddly - they are like a cross between a best friend and a teddy bear. Most of our dogs are easy to place in the perfect home for them; our profiling and home visits assure us that we are making the best possible match for our human families and our beloved hounds. Sometimes, though, we have dogs in our foster homes that need special homes for a variety of reasons. Some have minor health issues, or are recovering from injuries; some have lost their first home, and are waiting patiently for just the right forever home; and some are just so shy they need special parents that will help these sweet angels become comfortable with their new lives as pets.

If you are interested in visiting with any of these special greyhounds, please call Joyce McRorie at (562) 694-3519, or send her an email.

Kestrel

Hi! My name is Kestrel but my foster mom calls me Kester. I'm a cute little girl who loves to sleep, and I'll even sleep on the couch if you let me! I love to eat a lot and I love snacks and treats, but sometimes I get a little slobbery if the treat is really yummy! I learned how to use stairs, and I'm good about going outside. My foster mom says my best feature is my cute little ears, which I like to stick up a lot. I really like it when my humans work from home and get to stay home with me, but if they have to go out, I'm ok cause I have my foster sister to keep me company. I really don't want to be alone. I'm really more social. I like to follow my humans around to see what they are going to do next. I always think they are about to give me something to eat or play with, but if they don't, I just go to my bed and fall asleep watching TV. Sometimes I snore a little. My foster mom thinks that's cute too. Don't you want to take me home so I can show you just how cute I am?

Lebowski

Hi, my name is Lebowski,(AKA Carpenters) but my foster parents call me Lew for short.  I  just turned 2 and I just love to play.  My foster parents say I am really good on the leash and I love to go on walks.  I am a very loving little man and enjoy following my foster parents around the house.  I am fine with little furry things…in fact, I have lived with both a little dog and a cat and don’t mind them at all.  I love to play with squeaky toys but I am a gentleman and would never try to take another dog’s toy.  I am very excited to find my forever home…could it be with you?

Greg

Hi, my name is Greg (AKA Savvy Cents). I have been off the track just short of 3 months. I LOVE my toys, especially the squeeky ones. I will throw them in the air and pounce on them when I think no one is watching. I have been known to take toys right out of Cloud's (my foster brother) mouth as he walks by. My foster dad picks up handfuls of toys and puts them in the basket every day. My foster dad says I am a very good boy and I even learned commands like "let's go", "lay down" and "get back"

I like to walk on the leash and to me every stranger is a new friend, after all, they may have something for me hidden in their pocket. I can use the dog door on my own. I need a home without cats. I just like them much, but who can blame me. I'm very exciyed to meet meet my forever family soon.

Wolfe Blitzer

I'm Wolfe Blitzer (AKA Ucme Intimidator). If you like brindle, then I am your dog.  I am a gorgeous 3 year old male.  I am very sweet and my foster parents are working with me with love and I have calmed down a lot.  I am lovable but when we first meet please forgive me if I am a little shy.  Because I am pretty big I am not allowed to jump on people.  I really have stopped doing that.  I love to sleep with my foster parents but I do have a big comfortable bed of my own.

I use the doggie door to get to the yard for potty.  It’s so much better than having to wait.  I am really anxious to please people because I want to be loved.  A loud noise gets me nervous but basically I am a good boy.

Linaria

I am a beautiful fawn 3 year old female that likes lots of loving.  Most visitors find me snuggled in their arms shortly after we meet.  I love to sleep in bed with my foster Mommy and Daddy.  It gets a bit crowded when my brother gets into bed with us.  Still, we sleep very well together.   I am learning to walk like a lady on the leash.  It is a little difficult for me to be very still because I am so curious, but I am learning.

I get my teeth brushed often.  We always get a nice treat after teeth brushing.  I like treats and so do my brothers and sister.  The only thing different about me is that I had “happy tail.”  I got that from wagging my tail so hard against the walls.  The doctor at the hospital had to take off about two inches of my tail.  It really doesn’t show at all.  Nobody notices it. .I use a doggie door to go potty in the yard.  It’s really great not to have to wait to get outside.

I’ve never been with cats or small dogs.  They look like prey to me when they start to scamper around.  I don’t think I am cat or small dogs safe but you will surely love me.

Starbucks

I am a brindle boy that loves other greyhounds and people. I am friendly, outgoing and playful. However, I don't like small dogs and cats. I'm doing well in my foster home with lots of other greyhounds and when I make home visits, I like children a lot. I am not aggressive or overpowering. I just like to have my head in someone's lap. I use a dog door and steps with no problems. Won't you consider having me as someone to love?

Kona

Hi, my name is Kona (AKA Stat US Madris) and I am a sweet boy that loves everyone, including cats. Aggresive dogs intimidate me, but I get along with others well. I love everyone, including dhildren, other friendly dogs and cats. I like to play with others and toys. Unfortunately, I have bouts of motion sickness which I am working on to overcome.

Pisces

Hello, my name is Pisces, (AKA Cody Archer). I am a beautiful 5 year old red boy that had a full racing career. I'm a quiet affectionate friend and long for a family of my own. I love people, but I'm not good with other dogs or cats. I prefer being an only dog where I can give all my attention to my family. My favorite thing is to cuddle on the sofa with my foster family.

Mahjong

Hi Everyone, My name is Mahjong.  I’m a gorgeous  3 ½ yr. old  redheaded girl. I am full of life like most redheads you know.  Everyone says that I’m very muscular and look like I go to the gym every day, but this is just my natural girlie figure. One of my favorite things in life is playing.  I absolutely love to play chase with my sister Avery at full speed around the yard.  I love being outside in the fresh air, and  playing with stuffed animals.   It’s fun to throw them in the air and make them squeak.  I do also have a quieter, shy side and love affection.  Belly rubs are awesome and I hope to have them daily.   I tend to forget that I am not tiny and will do my best to find a place in your  lap.  Usually only my front half makes it in though.  I am very eager to please and get along with my four other greyhound brothers and sisters, even my sister Julia who can be a bit bossy.  I do need to find a home without small animals.  I love this retired lifestyle and am longing to find my forever home.  I know that I can bring as much love and happiness to your life, as you will to mine.

Lou Dobbs

I am Lou Dobbs (AKA Topstar) and I am a 2 ½ year old big red and white male. My foster parents call me Dobbs and I am a very laid back greyhound unless I think I am going for a walk, then I am a bundle of energy. I just love people of all shapes and sizes including children. I think that everyone is coming over to see just me. I know I am the sweetest dog ever. I will just lay my head on your lap for as long as you let me. A few times I have just slid down on the floor because I just get so relaxed. I will go from person to person trying to get attention. I am great with all the other dogs in the house. And I love to play with toys and the other dogs. I play real gentle with the older dogs in house. I am just an all around great dog. But I do need a home with no small animals. I am looking forward to finding my forever home soon!

Bobby

My name is Bobby (AKA Derek Derringer) and I am a three and a half year old red and white male.  But I think I am much younger. I am known to be as playful as a puppy (at least that is what my foster dad says).  I am very affectionate and I love to nuzzle against my foster dad and be petted.  I get very excited when I know it is time for a walk or to get my food! I just love to eat!  Also, I get along well with other dogs, even the little guys.  I love to play with my squeeky toys and I can keep myself amused tossing them around and making as much noise as possible!  I enjoy going in the backyard and I will even run a few laps to keep in shape and show off for everybody.  All in all, I am just a happy boy who has really taken to retirement!

Rolanda

Hi there, I'm Rolanda (AKA Bella BW Rolanda) and GPA picked me up with a broken leg and fixed it as good as new. I am a georgeous girl with a beautiful gray brindle coat, a very unusual color. As you can tell, I'm proud of my good looks, but people tell me I have a personality to match. I'm very friendly and outgoing and love to go places and entertain and love my family. I get along with the other greyhounds here and while I tested OK with small dogs and cats, I am not living with any. My foster dad tosses me cheese and ice cubes as treats every night. I sleep all night and love to cuddle with people. Please help me find a family to love.

Ray

My name is Ray (AKA Flying Newline) and I was picked up by GPA along with Doe, and Mimi with broken legs. We all had our legs fixed and you would never know we were injured. We all were adopted and my forever home had small dogs, cats and 2 young girls. I loved them all, especially the girls. Unfortunately, my mom became ill and was no longer able to care for all of us. GPA, again, came to my aid and took care of me while I look for another forever home. As you can see, I will be 8 in August and I don't like being alone. I would love to have someone that was home with me and needed a companion. I'm very social and friendly and get along with all sorts of other creatures. Please help make the rest of my life as good as it has been.

Levi

I'm Levi (AKA TIMPAS) and I am looking for a special home that will love me. I need to be an only dog, since other dogs intimidate me and I sometimes will defend myself unnecessarily. I am great with people and love to interact with them. As you can see, I am a handsome fellow with Mabilene eyeliner eyes. I will make someone an excellent companion. I would love to share a life with a retired family that we could spend lots of time together.

Jan

Hi! My name is Jan and I am a cute little 4-year-old red female. My foster mom says I am very friendly. I guess that is because I just love people! And I love attention. I always jump up and greet everyone face to face. And I am so light that I  can stand on my back feet. Pretty good trick, huh!  I am very sweet and I get along really well with the other dogs in the house. I also love my toys and I love to play. I also really love to sleep! My foster mom says when I am out, I am out. I am looking forward to meeting new people and finding my forever home!

Mike

Hi, I'm Mike (AKA Flea's Uturn)and I am a beautiful black boy, 4 years old. I am super friendly and affectionate and get along with all other dogs and test well with cats, but I haven't lived with any. I love my foster family and would love to stay here but they have too many dogs and not as much time as I would like to spend with them. I like doing things with them, including riding in a car. I wish I could find a forever home that was as great as my foster home.

Spots

My name is Spots (AKA Flying Judy J) and I am 4.5 years old. I love my foster family, but I long for my own home where I can get more attention. I like to cuddle with my family. I sleep all night and am ready to play anytime. I am friendly and outgoing and love to do things with people and my foster friends. My foster dad tosses me cheese and ice cubes at night which I love. I am a small girl, but I have plenty of spunk. I don't live with cats or small dogs so I would need to be checked with them. I do get along fine with all my foster friends and we hang out together and play. Please give me a call if I appeal to you.

Choral

Are you looking for a quiet, gentle little girl who just adores being petted? Well, I am the dog for you!  My name is Choral (AKA Bello Quiet News) and I am five years old.  I worked very hard at the racetrack and have just started my retirement.  I have learned so many new things –I use the dog door when I need to go out; I love playing with stuffies in the toy box; and I think it is really cool to go for rides in the car!  I think it is my job to protect my new home and will bark a little to let you know that someone is at the front door.  I listen to my foster parents and am very quick to learn.  I really like to put my head on my foster dad’s lap and watch TV with him.  My foster mom calls me “Miss Manners” because I am so well behaved.  I love being with my doggie foster brothers and sisters, but I am so-o-o excited about going to my forever home.  I CAN’T WAIT to meet you!

Peter

Hi, my name is Peter (AKA IC Kendotcom). I'm a tall, sweet and handsome guy , looking for someone who wouldn't mind having an extra shadow around to keep them company. If you are human, then I have no problem considering you my soul mate. I get along just fine with my 2 foster kitties and have a great time taking part in the occasional game of tag with my foster sister and brother doggies (I always win, of course). As much as I love a good game of chase with my canine friends, my favorite thing to do is to stay glued to your hip and watch whatever it is you're doing, even if it's not preparing my meal (but especially if your 're preparing my meal!). If you're sitting, I take the opportunity to rest my head on your lap. I will close my eyes in utter content when you scratch, pat or hug me, and when you return home from being away, I will tell you just how much I missed you.

Sam

Sam, Sam I am (AKA JBL's Clovis). I am 4 years old. I broke my hock racing, but it is all better now, thanks to GPA, and I sure enjoy walking and an occasional romp in the yard. Most of the time, I like to find a nice pad to lounge upon. I use a doggie door to go outside when I want. I like treats like dog cookies. They say that blondes have more fun. . . do you want to have some fun with me?

Big Dipper

Hi, my name is Big Dipper, Dipper most of the time and Dip to my close friends. I am 5 years old. I have lived in Iowa, Arizona and Mexico, but I really like it in California. I really like food . . . my foster mom says I eat like a crocodile if there are other dogs around. I like toys, but only what she calls the very toughest. I think it is great fun to shred the stuffies. I also like tennis balls, they are so fun to chase when they bounce! I am great at using the doggie door and I like to lay in the sun on the deck, so I hope my new family has a sunny place for me.

Ingram

My name is Ingram (AKA B Mac's Con Boy), but I like the name Wilson better. . .that's what my mom & dad called me. My mom got very sick and said that GPA would find me a new home that could walk and play with me. I just turned 6 years old in December. I am tall and slender and most of my body is white, so I'm sending a picture only of my head. . . handsome aren't I? I enjoy long walks, ear scratches and soft voices. I am too tall for the doggie door at my foster home, but they open the patio door for me. I have been an only dog, but I like other dogs and had 5 cats at my previous home. My foster dad calls me a "keeper", whatever that is.

Orchid

Hi! I am a beautiful girl named Orchid (AKA RN's Sylvia), but my foster mom sometimes calls me "Little Bit" because I am the littlest dog here.  She says I have a very pretty little head and black whiskers.  I raced a LOT at Caliente...145 times!  I not have to be big for that!  I like toys, snacks and tennis balls.  I do not like other dogs to get too close to me when I am resting...but really, don't they know I need my beauty sleep?  I am 4 years old and hope to have my forever home soon.

Union Jack

Hi my name is Union Jack. Everyone just calls me Jack. I am an 11 year old handsome male red brindle. I am ok with small dogs but no cats please. I am in great health for my age. So I am a little stiff in the rear legs it doesn't ’t keep me from playing or enjoying a leisurely walk. I like to lie around outside and enjoy the fresh air. I love people and like to lay my head in your lap so you can rub my ears better. I get along great with the other dogs at my foster home including two mixed breeds. I am a happy fun dog to have around. I just need to find my last forever home.

Peekaboo

Hi! My name is Peekaboo and I am a medium sized female. I am velvety black and like to peek through doors to see what you are doing. I am a sweet girl waiting to go to a home with kids and/or medium sized mellow dog(s). I am not shy and will greet you happily. I am usually the first one to greet family members when they get home. I am in a family that usually has someone around most of the day. We have a yard just big enough to run a little bit. When my family does all leave, they leave a door open to the atrium just in case we dogs need to ‘go’. I am able to hold my bladder overnight.

Around here I am the leader of the dogs, but that’s because there are two mellow dogs here. Back in January I had something like a stroke. For a few weeks I needed help walking. I have almost fully recovered. I still drag my right feet when I walk—so I need to wear shoes and socks just like people when walking outside. When I get tired my feet start to drag. My foster family walks me twice a day, about a mile. I get really excited when they get out the socks, but then I lay down for them to put the shoes on. On walks I like to lead, but as I get a little tired I stop pulling. I really like car rides, but make sure I pee first. I am always looking forward to getting into a car/van/truck/any thing that moves.

I do not get to lay on couches and beds like some Greyhounds. I have some wonderful dog beds on the floor to relax on. I have a healthy appetite, but I cannot eat any grains whatsoever. I do fine on Canidae dog food. I play with plush squeaky toys and whiffle balls. I absolutely love to chew on rawhides and will watch like a hawk, then sneak in and grab it. In the back yard I like to play tag with the other dogs and sometimes people.

I was small dog and cat tested on retirement day. I got a pink ribbon. I was first placed in a foster home with four cats. Maybe there were just too many of them for me, but I had to find a different home to stay in before finding my forever home. My foster family thinks I should not be put in a home with small animals; they look just like toys to me. I have been exposed to other dogs during my walks. The few that I actually meet nose to nose seem nice. Sometimes those loud big dogs behind fences get me nervous or irritated.

For more information contact my foster parents (Ted, Marci, or Ilana) at
(714) 280-9456 or by email at laurvik@adelphia.net.

Ishmael

My name is Ishmael, but most people call me Izzy.  I am the happiest and most outgoing dog in the world, and I’m pretty active for a greyhound.  I retired from the track at age 5, but I am not quite ready to retire to the sofa.  I like to play fetch, and my foster mom often tosses the ball for me 15 times before we go on a walk, just to tire me out a bit.  I like to play with all toys, especially the noisy ones.  I love to play with kids and teens and want to be part of any activity going on in the house.  When I lay on my bed and someone walks by me, I roll back and expose my belly so they can pet me.  I wagged my tail so much with sheer joy that it became injured and a small part had to be stitched close.  It is now healed and I no longer yelp when I hit it on the walls or doorways.  Once playtime is over (and foster mom is working away on the computer), I do like to rest quietly on a dog bed, but I am always up for walk or some fun.  My foster mom says I am more like a labrador retriever than a greyhound.  I get along well with all the other greyhounds in the house.  I’m not good with cats or small dogs, so only greyhound sized dogs and up would be good companions in a home for me.

Ginger

Hello my name is Ginger! I am a very beautiful, white with brindle patches 2 year old girl. I am looking for a forever home where there is an abundance of patience because I am so very, very shy. Not just shy but truly very shy. It is very hard for people to resist my sweet face but I get so scared when they come up to greet me that I just shake and shake. It takes me a long time to warm up to people but when I do, it is hard to resist me!! Most of my time during the day is spent in my favorite spot in the bathroom but I really do love to go on walks just as long as there are other dogs that can go with me.  I have so much fun playing with the other dogs at my foster home but it is a secret because I do this mostly at night when no one is watching. It is a special treat for me in the morning to give my foster mom lots of love when I rub up to her. I even share a kiss or two once in awhile.  I am very smart and have such a gentle soul. I even tested cat friendly. Everyone that meets me goes "oh, look how pretty and sweet she is".  If you have lots and lots of patience and are willing to work with me to help me overcome my shyness, then I am the perfect "grey" for you.  Underneath this shyness is a wonderful, sweet and loving girl!

Puffin

Hi! My name is Puffin and just like Puff the Magic Dragon, I will bring magic and happiness into your home!! I have such a sweet, lovable face and I am a very energetic and beautiful petite black and white 10 year old girl.  I am certainly not shy and love to give hugs and be hugged. What makes me very special is that I am cat friendly and love to socialize with other dogs! My foster mom told me that my allergies are pretty bad so I will have to have allergy shots about once a month for the rest of my life but I feel really good and look good as well! I can help you keep you shape because I love to go on walks and show everyone how pretty I am!!  If you are looking for love and hugs, then I am just what the doctor ordered. One look at me and your heart will melt. Let's start the New Year off with lots of love and furry hugs. I am ready...are you?? For more information please contact Jeff or Tammy Brookhart at 562-802-0937.

Gwen

My name is Gwen and I'm a beautiful black 3-year-old female. I'm still fairly skittish around new people, so I'm looking for a quiet, loving family where I'll feel safe and secure. I'm very mellow and I love to spend time curled up on my bed;; sometimes I'll just hang out there if I'm feeling nervous. I am uneasy when people come too close but it is kind of nice when men pay attention to me. I walk well on the leash, but I'm most comfortable if there are other dogs walking with us. I love riding in the car, although my foster mom sometimes has a tough time convincing me to get out. My foster mom says this is probably because I'm really smart and I learn very quickly. I guess you could say that I'm affectionate and pretty low-key, and I definitely don't have an alpha-dog attitude. I think my ideal family would be adults since I tend to be timid around children; and if they had another dog or two, that would be great. I might not be the most outgoing or cuddly greyhound around, but with a little love and patience, I'll make up for it with my sweet and gentle personality.

Derrick

Hi, I'm Derek, and I'm a striking black male greyhound. I'm a sweet, sensitive boy looking for a patient and gentle forever home. I enjoy spending quiet quality-time with my humans, and I tend to be more comfortable with women. My foster mom says I'm shy and I get a little spooked by new things, but I'm only 2 years old, so I'm still building my confidence. I'm working on being more comfortable in public and around new people. I love to play with toys, especially chasing balls and playing fetch. I walk well on a leash, and do alright in the car, and I don't mind other dogs or cats. Little children and strangers still make me a bit nervous, but I might warm up to them after a while, especially if they give me a treat. My foster mom thinks I would probably be happiest in a home with older children or adults. I may be a bit shy for a while, but with a little patience and love, I'll be a loyal and loving companion.

Clifton

I am a handsome male brindle greyhound. My biggest issue is that I am rather shy, but I am a sweet and affectionate guy with my foster family. I get along great with other dogs and I should only go to a home that has another dog for me to have as a companion. I will admit it, I am a little insecure and find strength in numbers. I get spooked by loud noises and would do best in a home without small children. There are cats in my foster home and I stay clear of them since they scare me a bit also. I especially enjoy sleeping in bed in between my foster mom and dad. I am a very nice guy, even goofy and playful. Once placed in my permanent home, I will bond with my new family and continue to come out of my shell. I am obedient and all I want is your love and affection.

Mr. Lincoln

I am Mr. Lincoln, my foster mom is always telling me how handsome I am - sometimes people have said I remind them of a deer.  I am very shy, as I am still learning about the big world outside of the racing arena.  I just turned 2 in February.  I'm am a bit scared around strangers, especially men, but I have really bonded with my foster mom and I know once I am placed in a forever home, I will bond with my new family as well.   I get along GREAT with other dogs - even the little ones that now jump on me and give me kisses.  I don't even pay attention to the cats, chickens & rabbits that I currently share home & yard space where I am staying now.  I walk very well on a leash.  I would probably be happiest in a home with another dog for a companion.   I am a mellow dog; I have no problems riding in the car.  If you are patient and want to help acclimate me to this big new world, please arrange to meet me.  PLEASE don't be offended if I am shy when you meet me, I promise with some time I will bond with you and be a wonderful, loyal, dedicated friend. Adopted September 28, 2005

Righty

I am a special lady with some special needs. I am a small female, brindle greyhound, about 9 years old. As I have aged, I have developed a foot condition – similar to corns on my paws. This condition can be quite painful, but can be fixed with periodic minor surgery, otherwise I have trouble walking & they are quite painful. The corns were just removed recently, so I am walking pretty again. Additionally I don’t have the best teeth – it happens to the best of us as we age…but the good thing is, when a Vet is servicing my feet, he can also take care of my teeth. I get along fine with other dogs and small animals. I am quite playful and I really love people. I walk well on a leash and love car rides. I love to lounge in the sun & enjoy my golden years. I could be a great companion for an older couple and would be great as an only pet too.

Rum Rickey

I am a very handsome  4 year old male black greyhound . I am quite large, even for a male and have a beautiful white tuxedo chest. Everyone who pets me says I have a very soft and beautiful coat. I am  very shy and it will take some nurturing to coax me out of my shell.   I am good on the leash when I am walking with other dogs (I live with 3 other dogs and we all go for walks together).  I am fine walking alone but sometimes get scared when we meet a stranger along the way (that's when I pull very hard). I am getting better. I am a sweet and gentle boy  (my foster mom says I am a gentle giant).  With some work and patience I will make a wonderful pet, I just need the security of a permanent home and family with whom I can fully bond.  I am small dog safe and do well with all dogs.  I am ok with cats. I would do best in a quiet, calm home environment with other dogs. I have been bounced around a little, so it may take me a while to settle in and feel comfortable enough to show my true personality. Once I am comfortable with you, I can be very playful and affectionate, just ask my foster mom. I just want your love and care and patience - in time I will make a great pet.

Harlequin

My name is Harlequin, Harley for short and I am a super affectionate 61/2 year old male.  I have to admit that my biggest flaw is that I don't care for other dogs.  What can I say - I love my people and don't appreciate being approached or sniffed by strange dogs.  Frankly, I think the whole dog sniffing habit is overrated and quite rude.  I'm not a fan of cats either. Perhaps we should focus on my positive points.  I love attention from you - my future mom or dad, kids, grandparents, basically people of all sizes.  I would be happiest placed in a home as an only child, that way I can soak up all of your attention and love.  I walk well on a leash, and I listen to commands such as "go to your bed", "stay" and "out of the kitchen." My goal in life is to be by you, following you from room to room.

Velvet Glove

Hello, I am Velvet Glove and I am looking for the right home for me. I am a lovely red brindle 2 ½ year old female.  I can be rather reserved at first, but once I get to know you, I really come out of my shell.  I am a sweet dog and very affectionate with my foster parents.  Like so many of the greyhound females, I would prefer to be the queen of the house.  I would do well as an only dog or with a mellow male.  I am not good with small cats or dogs.  They are just so fun to run after, so much like I did in my prior racing life.  I am pretty good on a leash and I am alert looking for things to cross my path.  I like car rides.  I also like to carry toys around, play with them & put them in my bed.  I am a sweet dog - I am bright & curious.

Flint

My name is Flint - as you can see from my picture, I am a handsome male. I am a bit older than some of the ex-racers.  I am 81/2 years old - but I still have many years to share my life with you.  I had a happy and loving home with my sister Suwannee, but unfortunately our dad died.  I am looking for a new home & ideally would like to be placed with my sister, but this is not a requirement. So you know a little about me, I LOVE other dogs, even small dogs and I am friendly with cats. I walk well on a leash.  I am a typical mellow male greyhound. I am very affectionate & although I am big, I would still love to try & curl up on your lap.  I look forward to meeting you.

Suwannee

Hello I am Suwannee and I'm looking for a new home.  Sadly, my dad died & my brother Flint & I now need a new place to call home.  If possible, I'd like to stay with my older brother, Flint.  I love other dogs & I think I would be happiest if placed in a home with another canine companion to keep me company.  I'm a bit playful, and very sweet - I'll play with other dogs & people too, even at my age of 7! I've enjoyed a spoiled life since leaving the track and sometimes I am even allowed to sleep on the couch.  I walk well on a leash - it's a perfect time for me to investigate things in the neighborhood! I LOVE car rides. Doesn't my grey face give me a distinguished look?

Pawnee

My name is Pawnee & if you already read about Mr. Lincoln, I can assure you that I am a bit like him.  I have a kind & patient foster mom, I have bonded with her, but in time I know I will bond with my new family.  I'm a very sweet yet shy dog.  I am slowly coming out of my shell; I am only 31/2 years old.  I walk well on a leash & I enjoy rides in the car.  I get along with other dogs big and small, but I still think cats are for chasing.  Some loud noises & abrupt movements startle me, but as I get used to life off the track, I am slowly acclimating. I will be a great loyal, loving companion, I just need to find the right family to be patient with me & show me the outside world. Adopted March 5, 2005

Mauna Loa

I'm Mauna Loa & what can I say?  I love to flirt!  I am a sweet and VERY affectionate dog and I love men!  I'm only four years old and so far I am really enjoying my retirement.  I get along great with other dogs - the smaller animals tend to interest me too much, so I would be best placed in a home as an only child or with other dogs that are closer in size to me.  I enjoy walks and rides in the car.  I am housebroken as well.  I tend to have bursts of energy and then I mellow out.  I LOVE food, I still have not found a morsel of food that I didn't like.  I can't get enough of your attention - I love to be loved! Adopted March 6, 2005

*On average, we bring in about 25 new dogs per month from the track- the above listed dogs are not the usual types of dogs we receive in - most of the dogs are in good health & in fact they get adopted out so quickly, we don't even have time to post their pictures on the website. The dogs pictured here are our special cases looking for the perfectly patient & kind owner.
